Antibacterial activity of netilmicin, a new aminoglycoside antibiotic, compared with that of gentamicin.

The antibacterial activity of netilmicin (Sch 20569), a new semisynthetic aminoglycoside, was compared with that of gentamicin against a variety of gram-negative bacteria, staphylococci, and streptococci. Both antibiotics had similar activity against most organisms, but netilmicin had appreciably greater activity against gram-negative organisms that were resistant to gentamicin because these sp...

Structure-guided discovery of novel aminoglycoside mimetics as antibacterial translation inhibitors.

We report the structure-guided discovery, synthesis, and initial characterization of 3,5-diamino-piperidinyl triazines (DAPT), a novel translation inhibitor class that targets bacterial rRNA and exhibits broad-spectrum antibacterial activity. DAPT compounds were designed as structural mimetics of aminoglycoside antibiotics which bind to the bacterial ribosomal decoding site and thereby interfer...

مقایسه تاثیر گیاه همیشه‌بهار با سفالوسپورین‌ها بر باکتری‌های جدا شده از بیماران مبتلا به سلولیت

Abstract Background: Presence of the beta-lactamase enzyme results in microbial resistance to beta-lactam and cell wall synthesis inhibitor antibiotics. This study was conducted to compare effects of Calendula officinalis extract and cephalosporines, as a cell wall synthesis inhibitor antibiotic, on bacteria isolated from patients with cellulitis. Methods: This experimental study was done o...

New antibiotic produced by bacteria, 5-beta-D-xylofuranosylneamine.

A new aminoglycoside antibiotic was isolated from the fermentation broths of two strains of Bacillus species. The antibiotic is active against gram-positive and some gram-negative bacteria, and its antimicrobial spectrum is similar to that of ribostamycin. The chemical structure was determined to be 5-beta-d-xylofuranosylneamine, which is identical to the deacylated product obtained from butiro...

A new aminoglycoside antibiotic G-367 S1, 2'-N-formylsisomicin fermentation, isolation and characterization.

A new aminoglycoside antibiotic, G-367 S1 (2'-N-formylsisomicin, C20H37N5O8) produced by a rare actinomycetes, Dactylosporangium thailandense G-367 (FERM-P 4840) has been isolated by column chromatography on a cation-exchange resin. G-367 S1 is active against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.
